We usually recommend the 2ga set to most customers. Click this link on how to select the right size wire for your project.

How to Choose the Right Wire Size for Your Vehicle
One of the most common questions we receive is: “What size wire do I need for my vehicle?” The answer depends largely on your vehicle’s electrical demands and your future upgrade plans.
For most customers, we recommend a 2-gauge (2ga) wire set. It’s a solid upgrade from the factory-standard 4-gauge wire and is well-suited for vehicles equipped with higher-output alternators (up to 180 amps), auxiliary lighting, or a winch. This size strikes a good balance between performance and cost for typical aftermarket enhancements.
If you're simply replacing stock wiring to resolve electrical issues and don’t plan on adding accessories or upgrading your alternator, a 4-gauge (4ga) wire set is usually sufficient. It supports alternators with outputs up to approximately 136 amps and is ideal for restoring factory performance.
For more demanding electrical systems—such as those with under-hood welders, high-powered audio systems, or high-output alternators like the JS Alternators we carry—we recommend stepping up to 1/0-gauge (1/0ga) wire. This size ensures safe and efficient power delivery under heavy loads. While it may be more than necessary for some setups, it provides headroom for future upgrades.
As for 2/0-gauge (2/0ga) wire, it’s typically overkill unless you're running a diesel truck or building a show vehicle. That said, we understand the appeal—sometimes, it’s about performance and presentation.
